At our family Christmas dinner, everyone went around the room and said one word that encompassed their feelings for 2023… Mine was FAST. I really feel like it has just flown by! Now maybe that’s because 6 of those months I’ve been pregnant and with that comes a completely warped sense of time and reality LOL!
But when I take a step back and really look at how 2023 went, I’m met with a sense of accomplishment juxtaposed with an eagerness to do better and do more in 2024. To start off my review of 2023, I think it’s probably best to start with the wins and accomplishments!
Probably the biggest win for us? Finishing our large renovation on The Klein House and getting it sold! This project was a true labor of LOVE. We spent a year designing and managing the complete overhaul of this beautiful craftsman home in downtown OKC. And while it wasn’t the best time to list and sell a higher end product in the real estate market, we were able to get The Klein House into the hands of an amazing couple who really appreciated all the effort we poured into this project!
Let’s take a look at the before and after!
From reimagining the entire floor plan, designing custom kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, choosing the perfect floor stain and paint palette, to designing a two car garage and upgrading the front porch aesthetic – this home will forever have our heart in it!
Here are a few more of my favorite elements of The Klein House!
Probably my next biggest win was designing 3 new homes from scratch!
I had the privilege of working with two families here in Oklahoma to design their dream homes! One of which is just now wrapping up at the end of the year and one that will begin construction at the beginning of 2024. The third home I designed was the garage apartment behind out own house! Stay tuned for the progress on this one as I have every intention of taking you along for the whole journey!
Here are a couple of the floor plans for the homes I designed this year!
Beyond these two majors wins, I have worked with a number of amazing clients on everything from apartment design spec books, primary bath renovations, mother-in-law suite addition plans, attic conversions and more!!
Here is a quick list of lessons I learned from my second year in business
These 5 lessons are definitely going up on a poster in my office so I do not forget them in 2024! Being an entrepreneur is by far the most difficult yet rewarding journey I have every gone on. If I can learn from my past self, I know I will only continue to grow!
Are there any lessons you learned in 2023 that you want to take into 2024? Leave a comment below!
Cheers to an amazing and prosperous 2024 to all of you!
